The National Bank of Samoa (nbs) invites qualified candidates interested in pursuing careers with nbs to apply for the following positions.

 

  1. MANAGER INNOVATION LAB

nbs is seeking individuals interested in managing an Innovation Lab focused on designing financial services that are delivered through digital channels in Samoa. nbs is partnering with Pacific Financial Inclusion Programme (PFIP) to offer banking services to mass market customers using innovative digital channels such as EziBank and Digicel Mobile Money. The Lab is mandated to create a compelling customer value proposition by prototyping and testing innovations with the channels, pricing, products, marketing, or other dimensions of the customer experience.

 

The Innovation Lab Manager will be responsible for running the Innovation Lab on a daily basis, under direct supervision of Project Manager Digital Banking and will work closely with the Financial Inclusion Coordinator from PFIP. He/She will be responsible for driving all customer research, product development, and service design activities and manage the day to day implementation of the project tasks.

 

Indicative responsibilities

  • Manage the project on a daily basis, including planning and execution of the work plan & budget.
  • Work with the team to conduct customer research, implement prototype field testing, and troubleshoot issues that arise.
  • Work collaboratively with specialist designers to conduct customer research, develop concepts, test prototypes, develop customer education and/or marketing approaches and technology as required.
  • Analyze customer usage data and help define the customer journey
  • Work with nbs partners to develop processes and business rules for customer acquisition, customer service, and agent management.
  • Work with nbs partners to create and implement marketing and customer engagement plans
  • Conduct research and develop product prototypes and associated business rules in an agile working context.
  • Prepare analytical reports and provide proactive suggestions for quarterly workplans
  • Coordinate with organizational stakeholders in ensuring the success of experiments and the adoption of successful ideas within the business
  • Regularly liaise with PFIP’s Financial Inclusion Coordinator, and with designated management members of nbs and its partners to ensure the project is running as expected.

 

Professional Profile

  • Demonstrating project management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Possessing the understanding to apply evidence based methods, including ideation, rapid prototyping, conducting interviews, surveys and usability tests.
  • Having previous experience leading a team of people to implement financial services and products.
  • To be someone who has played a key role in a structured approach to taking a service to market.
  • 5 years+ relevant work experience

 

Professional Qualities

  • Having the ability to work effectively and sensitively cross culturally, in particularly supervising people who will not be of your same culture.
  • Having the ability to think out of the box and troubleshoot on the fly.
  • Possessing excellent communication skills, including analytical writing. You are competent at using a variety of communication and group collaboration tools and applications—such as Skype, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • You are passionate about solving financial problems for low-income people, especially vulnerable groups (women, people with disabilities as well as rural dwellers).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Marketing, Business or any related field.

 

Remuneration

  • The position offers an attractive remuneration package based on qualification and experience.

 

Term of Employment

  • 12 months (with possibility of Extension)

 

 

  1. MARKETING OFFICER

This role will support the Innovation Lab team by developing and implementing a Marketing Plan including all marketing strategies and activities that support the goals of the Innovation Lab.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a Strategic Marketing Plan for products designed by the Innovation Lab.
  • Oversee the production and distribution of a wide range of marketing materials as required by the Innovation Lab.
  • Design and deploy successful marketing campaigns (digital/traditional) and own their implementation from ideation to execution
  • Produce valuable and engaging content for website and social media that attract and convert our target groups
  • Monitor and report on effectiveness of marketing communications.
  • Working closely with design agencies in production of marketing materials
  • Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant company functions are kept informed of marketing objectives.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
  • In-depth understanding of marketing concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience developing marketing plans and campaigns
  • At least 3 years of experience in marketing
  • Experience of organizing mass market campaigns would be a strong plus
  • Must be fluent in Samoan and English.
